This is a picture of Anna with the cup/fork person she made for me when I was sick. She came up with the idea all by herself and put it together all by herself too. She made it to help me feel better.

We had a great garden this year. We grew corn, green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, peppers, carrots, cantaloupe, and of course zucchini! Her is a picture of Anna and Andrew with our monster zucchini.

Anna turned 5 on August 25th, just in time to start kindergarten. She had a fun day. She went to kangaroo zoo with her friends Katelynn and Ashley Ramage, she went bowling with her dad, and then had a party with grandma and papa Despain, Uncle Craig, Uncle Brandon, Aunt Amy, Mom, Dad, and of course Andrew!

Having fun at Kangaroo Zoo!

Here is what we have been up to since our last post:

Anna and Andrew love using sidewalk chalk. The above picture shows their experiment of grinding the chalk, Anna said she loved how is was so soft.

This is a picture Anna took of Brandon and I on June 27th when we went out to eat to celebrate our birthdays. We went to the Mayan up in Sandy. The entertainment was great, the food and service not so great. We also went to SubZero Ice Cream in Orem. It was great!

Anna and Andrew at the Provo Children's Parade on June 30th.

Anna enjoying a popsicle after walking the whole parade route and back.

Andrew showing me his popsicle. He loved the parade, but I had to carry him most of the time because he just wanted to chase after all the candy being thrown.

Anna demonstrating her sparkler skills.

Andrew was afraid a firework would burn his head, so he kept his hands on his head the whole time!

We convinced Andrew to wear a hat, so he was a lot happier.

Almost 2 weeks ago, Anna ran into a door downstairs and split her head open and had to get stitches. She was pretty scared to go to urgent care, but we somehow convinced her that everything would be fine. She was still pretty nervous and it took some bribes of stickers to let the nurse take her temperature through her hear and her pulse through her finger. Once she saw that this didn't hurt, she was great the rest of the procedure. She was even joking with the doctor as he put the stitches in. I think he was pretty surprised to see a 4 year old talking so easily with him. She had the stitches in for 6 days and everything healed good. She will have a scar to match the other one on her forehead!

Anna really wasn't sad she just wanted to pose for the picture, she thought she should have a sad face. She loved the silver band aids from the doctor, mostly because he told her they were magic. As a result, she spent a good deal of her time trying to figure out how the band aid was magic. She is still looking for the answer.....

Anna graduated from preschool on Wednesday. The program was held at the Provo Towne Center Movie Theatres, where Anna's teacher Miss Debbie is the manager. Anna' s program part was, "I would like to welcome you today, there is just one thing I would like to say. It's been fun, it's been great. Now it's time to graduate." She did a great job and remembered all of her part. She also sang some cute songs and then at the end received her diploma. She thinks it is pretty neat that she graduated before her Dad! Afterwards we got to stay and watch the movie Shrek the Third. It was a fun day. Here are some pics:

Anna singing the song "My Flag", she was excited for this particular song as she got to wear a crown.

Anna showing her cap and diploma

We also had a series of rainstorms this week. Anytime it rains, Anna and Andrew have to go out with the umbrella. Here are some pics

Anna out on the deck in the rain

Andrew thrilled to death that Anna let him wear her rain jacket.

Okay, so I am going to try and start blogging. I thought this would be a good way to journal things that happen in our family and make me take more pictures (I am so bad at taking pictures!).

Here are some recent pictures:
